Got Milk? Might Not Be Doing You Much Good – NYTimes.com

As I tell patients, almost everything is perfectly good in moderation, milk included. What else would you put on cereal? Cookies without milk would be unthinkable. There’s nothing wrong with a periodic glass because you like it. But there’s very little evidence that most adults need it. There’s also very little evidence that it’s doing them much good.

Jonas Wahl is the 8-year-old son of Drs Jean and Pat Wahl and a second-grader at Mount Pleasant Elementary. He also a green belt in karate.

When Pat asked Jonas if he knew why he was out of school today (Veterans Day), Jonas responded, “Because it’s Vegetarian Day!”

A study from researchers in Uppsala University in Sweden suggests that consuming more milk could actually be associated with higher mortality and bone fractures in women and higher mortality in men.
